Ryan North is a near surface geophysicist with 20 years of experience utilizing a range of geophysical methods. His skill set includes depth and breadth of near surface geophysics along with several related technical disciplines, executive leadership and management, mentoring, recruitment, marketing, and program development. Much of his career was spent at the US Army Engineer Research & Development Center (ERDC) in Vicksburg, MS as a research geophysicist. Ryan North has worked on civil works projects to detect under and through seepage through levees and dams. He also spent significant time working on tunnel detection along US borders, as well as other locations overseas. He spent many years on improving methods to detect unexploded ordnance (UXO) through improving instrumentation, improving our understanding of the electromagnetic properties of soils and their contrast with the targets, and performing geophysical surveys to detect, discriminate, and classify UXO at field sites. He spent a number of years on research to improve the detection of landmines and improvised explosive devices (IED). He regularly works with geophysical equipment manufacturers and software companies to improve their products. He has spent significant time on forensic geophysics with NecroSearch International and the Department of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA).  He has mapped a number of cemeteries to detect unmarked burials. He is also interested in the application of geophysics to treasure hunting and performs consulting with numerous treasure hunters to help them refine their methodologies as well as performing field surveys. His career has included fieldwork in 49 or the 50 states, multiple US territories, and a number of countries around the world.
